I'm a Sydney-based portrait photographer and I love creating interesting portraits. Most of my work sits somewhere between a traditional portrait sitting and something more collaborative or conceptual. The process of devising something that fulfils my creativity and satisfies the person in front of the camera, and then making it happen, brings me more joy than it probably should.
My work moves between digital and large format film, depending on what a portrait calls for. Digital offers speed and flexibility, while film allows me to slow down and enjoy a more deliberate approach when I'm working on personal projects.
I photograph a range of subjects, from corporate portraits to commissioned work for individuals and creatives who want something more distinctive than a standard portrait.
There are times when an idea, concept or subject sends me down a path of exploration and experimentation. These investigations often develop into a series or larger body of work, and form the foundation of my fine art practice.
Alongside my own practice, I teach photography at an RTO in Sydney, delivering training for nationally recognised qualifications and working with emerging photographers as they develop their skills.
Occasional recognition along the way has been welcome and encouraging. I've been a semifinalist in the 2022 Head On Portrait Prize and the 2024 Head On Exposure Prize, and I'm currently a finalist in the 2026 Alice Prize. My work has also been featured on the View Camera Australia website.
